The property
The Tenuta Guado al Tasso, established in the late 1600s by the Della Gherardesca family in Bolgheri, was developed by Guido Alberto Della Gherardesca in the 19th century. Carlotta Della Gherardesca Antinori took over in the 1930s, aiming to transform the estate into a leader in Tuscan wines. Recognized in the DOC Bolgheri appellation since 1994, Tenuta Guado al Tasso is today an icon among great Italian wines.
The vineyard
Located in the prestigious DOC Bolgheri appellation, officially recognized in 1994, Tenuta Guado al Tasso is internationally celebrated as an emblematic reference among great Italian wines.
The vintage
The year 2022 was marked by low rainfall from winter to a good part of the summer. The mid-August rains fortunately favored optimal ripening of the grapes. These climatic conditions led to a perfect health state of the berries, with a reduction in vegetative development and grain size, determining factors for the concentration and quality of the wine.
Vinification and aging
To produce the Guado al Tasso 2022, the grapes underwent a rigorous double selection, before and after destemming. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel tanks for 18 to 25 days. Malolactic fermentation was carried out in barrels. In February, the best parcels were blended, and the wine continued its refinement in new French oak barrels, giving it structure and complexity.
Grapes
This great Tuscan wine is the result of a harmonious blend of 44% cabernet sauvignon, 31% cabernet franc and 25% merlot.
