Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Pernand-Vergelesses Village 2025 by Jean Chartron
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs beautifully with white fish, whether baked or served with a light sauce, as well as with shellfish and crustaceans. Its structure also makes it a fine match for poultry in cream sauce, mushroom risotto and hard cheeses such as Comté or Beaufort.
Serving and cellaring
Offered en primeur, the Pernand-Vergelesses Village 2025 will be delivered from early 2028. For optimal enjoyment, serve it at a temperature between 11 and 13°C. In its youth, decanting for 30 to 45 minutes can help open up its aromas. Crafted to evolve gracefully, this cuvée has fine ageing potential of six to around twelve years, depending on storage conditions.
The authentic expression of a great white Burgundy by Domaine Jean Chartron
The estate
Founded in 1859 by Jean-Edouard Dupard, Domaine Jean Chartron is a historic family estate based in Puligny-Montrachet, in Burgundy. Its founder played a key role in adding the name "Montrachet" to the village in 1873. Now run by the fifth generation, Jean-Michel and Anne-Laure Chartron, the vineyard covers some 14.5 hectares. Holding High Environmental Value certification, the estate stands out for its exceptional heritage, which includes several monopole crus, and for its commitment to producing precise wines that faithfully reflect their terroirs.
The vineyard
The Pernand-Vergelesses Village cuvée comes mainly from the Les Belles Filles plot, located on the upper slopes of the Pernand-Vergelesses appellation. Facing east, these 35- to 40-year-old vines thrive on soils of white limestone marl and crushed stone. This hillside terroir benefits from excellent drainage and sustainable viticulture carried out without any synthetic products, preserving the grapes' freshness and natural tension.
Winemaking and ageing
Crafted according to a philosophy of minimal intervention, the Pernand-Vergelesses Village 2025 undergoes gentle pressing to obtain very clear juice. Vinification is carried out with limited lees extraction to preserve aromatic purity. The wine is then aged in the estate's temperature-controlled cellars in French oak barrels, with a measured proportion of new wood, before resting for a few months in tanks to perfect its balance.
