Description
A white Burgundy wine blending elegance and minerality
The estate
Established in the heart of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, the Jean Chartron estate was founded in 1859 by cooper Jean-Édouard Dupard. Today, this prestigious historic property is run by the fifth generation, represented by Jean-Michel and Anne-Laure Chartron. The vineyard extends over 14.5 hectares, spread across magnificent terroirs. The family perpetuates century-old expertise, combining tradition with respect for the environment and producing wines renowned for their purity and minerality, thereby asserting its essential place among the great names of the region.
The vineyard
This monopole of approximately 1.16 hectares is ideally located within the Puligny-Montrachet appellation, benefiting from a fine exposure. The vines thrive on clay-limestone soils, offering perfect conditions for cultivating Chardonnay. Surrounded by prestigious plots, this vineyard is tended with deep respect for its exceptional environment.
The vintage
2024 proved to be a demanding year in terms of climate. The vines required heightened attention and meticulous interventions to protect the harvest while respecting the principles of sustainable viticulture, ultimately allowing grapes of fine quality to be harvested.
Winemaking and aging
The making of this wine begins with hand harvesting to preserve the natural acidity of the berries. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels. Aging then continues in the cellar, with a moderate use of new wood to enhance the mineral expression of the terroir.
Grape variety
The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos de La Pucelle" Monopole 2024 is a 100% Chardonnay.
