Tasting
Colour
With beautiful clarity, the colour reveals a vibrant ruby red hue, particularly luminous.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet proves complex, exhaling scents of black cherry, violet blossom and damp earth. With time, delicate touches of truffle and game may emerge.
Palate
The palate offers a silky texture carried by tannins of great refinement. The balance is perfect between lovely vibrancy, marked minerality and generous aromas of ripe red berries and black berries. The finish stands out for its remarkable persistence on notes of cherry and candied fruit.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with feathered game such as quail or partridge, roasted poultry in sauce, or a fine veal roast. It will also complement soft-rind cheeses such as Brie de Meaux, Camembert or Chaource beautifully.
Service and storage
To fully appreciate the complexity of the Chambolle-Musigny "Village" 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of around 16°C. This wine offers remarkable ageing potential and can be enjoyed until around 2038.
The elegance and purity of a great red Burgundy
The estate
Founded in 1880 in Beaune, France, the House of Joseph Drouhin is a true institution in Burgundy. Originally a wine merchant, the company has gradually built up an exceptional estate that now spans around a hundred hectares across the region. Currently led by Frédéric Drouhin, representing the fourth generation, the estate stands out for its pioneering commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture. Renowned for the elegance of its wines, the House continues a unique expertise, combining respect for terroir with family continuity.
The vineyard
This wine comes from a meticulous blend of several plots belonging to the estate, located within the Chambolle-Musigny appellation. Cultivated according to certified organic and biodynamic principles, these vines benefit from constant care, ensuring a pure and authentic expression of this terroir.
The vintage
2023 stood out for its particularly warm and generous weather conditions. Abundant sunshine allowed the berries to reach exceptional phenolic ripeness, while preserving beautiful natural acidity thanks to precise decisions during harvest.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes for the Chambolle-Musigny "Village" 2023 are hand-harvested in small open crates, followed by rigorous sorting. The berries are fully destemmed before fermentation with indigenous yeasts and a maceration period of two to three weeks in small open vats, punctuated by regular punching down and pumping over. Ageing then takes place in French oak barrels, 20 to 25% of which are new, for a period of 14 to 16 months.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
