Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Pouilly-Fumé 2024 Les Vins d'Emmanuelle
Tasting notes
Colour
This white wine from France reveals a bright, radiant colour.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals delicate notes of white flowers, harmoniously blended with hints of boxwood and blackcurrant leaf. A mineral and subtly smoky dimension rounds out the whole.
Palate
The attack reveals a lovely fullness in the mid-palate, carried by ripe, generous fruit. The crisp acidity balances a pronounced mineral backbone, offering an authentic, unadorned expression of the fruit.
Food and wine pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with freshwater fish such as pike, seafood like oysters and clams, or creamy poultry dishes. It also goes wonderfully with goat's cheese and spring dishes featuring asparagus or artichokes.
Service and storage
Perfect as an aperitif, this 2024 vintage ideally awakens the palate before a meal thanks to its lovely liveliness and refreshing freshness.
The authentic expression of a Pouilly-Fumé terroir
The estate
Founded on 21 September 2017 in Sancerre, the négociant house Les Vins d'Emmanuelle is led by its president and founder, Emmanuelle Mellot. Coming from a distinguished lineage of winemakers, she chose to forge her own path by selecting cuvées from partner producers in the Loire Valley. A passionate advocate for the environment, she works exclusively with estates practicing organic and biodynamic farming. This approach allows her to offer authentic wines that reflect a genuine philosophy of sharing and respect for terroir.
The vineyard
The terroir of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation is distinguished by soils made up of limestone, clay, and flint. These unique geological characteristics give the grapes a pronounced mineral identity. The plots selected for this cuvée are cultivated with the utmost respect for the environment, using organic and biodynamic methods.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand in 25-kilo crates to preserve the integrity of the berries, followed by rigorous sorting on a conveyor belt. Gentle pressing is then carried out to extract the finest juice. Fermentation takes place partially in barrels. Aging lasts between seven and nine months, with a third of the wine resting in half-barrels and the remaining two-thirds in concrete or stainless-steel tanks. Extended aging on the lees enriches the overall aromatic complexity.
Grape variety
Sauvignon Blanc (100%).
