Description
A Beaune Premier Cru with assertive structure and beautiful aromatic intensity
The Estate
Founded in 1797, Domaine Louis Latour embodies one of the oldest family estates in Bourgogne. Still independent, it has established itself as the largest owner of Grands Crus in Côte d’Or, notably thanks to its famous parcels in Aloxe-Corton, such as Corton-Charlemagne. The House preserves a unique know-how, notably through its own cooperage, established in the 18th century.
The vineyard
Located in the northern part of the appellation Beaune, the “Perrières” climat rests on an east-facing slope. This steep terroir, near ancient limestone quarries, features lean, shallow soils blending clay and limestone, conducive to grape concentration.
The vintage
The 2023 growing season began with a mild winter and a sunny spring, allowing rapid vine development despite some concerns regarding humidity and mildew. The summer was mixed, with above-normal temperatures and significant rainfall, requiring constant vigilance. A heatwave at the end of August and beginning of September ultimately rescued the harvest, enabling perfect grape maturation.
Winemaking and aging
The winemaking follows traditional methods, with fermentation in open vats followed by a complete malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from the estate’s cooperage, 35% of which are new oak with medium toast, adding complexity and structure.
Grape variety
This Beaune Premier Cru "Perrières" 2023 from Louis Latour is made from 100% Pinot Noir.
