The estate

Founded in 1797 in Aloxe-Corton, Maison Louis Latour remains an independent family-owned company passed down through eleven generations. With 50 hectares of vines, including 28.63 hectares of Grand Cru, it owns the largest estate of this rank in Burgundy. Under the direction of Florent Latour, pending the arrival of Éléonore Latour who will represent the twelfth generation, Louis Latour continues its pioneering role with, in particular, the first French winery devoted to winemaking and the introduction of Chardonnay in Corton-Charlemagne.

The vineyard

The Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru "Morgeot" comes from a mid-slope parcel facing south-east. The name "Morgeot" originates from the term "Margo" meaning edge or border, as this parcel lies on the former Gallo-Roman boundary separating the Côte-d'Or from the Saône-et-Loire. The vines, averaging 30 years of age, take root in subsoil composed of clay and chalk.

Vinification and ageing

Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru "Morgeot" 2023 is vinified in the traditional way in oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation is carried out 100%. Ageing takes place for 8 to 10 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new. The barrels come from the Louis Latour cooperage and receive a medium toast.

Grape variety

This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay.
