Louis Latour : Chevalier-Montrachet Grand cru "Les Demoiselles" 2023

Lush and creamy, this white exudes peach, apple pie, lemon oil and baking spice flavors. Gathers greater definition while building to the mineral- and spice-tinged finish. Supple and harmonious yet should develop well into the next decade. A chalky feel emerges in the end. Best from 2027 through 2038. 280 cases made, 50 cases imported.

The 2023 Chevalier Demoiselles was the finest wine in the Latour cellar this year. The style is very rich, but this is an impeccably well-made wine, with aromas ranging from melon to passion fruit, quince and white peach. The finish shows impressive density, full body and length. The acidity, at best balanced, is in keeping with the 2023 vintage. The grapes come from the 0.51 ha parcel that the domaine purchased over 100 years ago, splitting the original plot with Jadot; tasting them today makes for an interesting comparison.
