An illustrious Burgundian estate, Louis Latour has been actively committed since 1996 to sustainable and environmentally respectful viticulture.
The Vineyard
The 1er cru "Goutte d'Or" is a Meursault wine from a parcel located south of Volnay and Pommard within the Côte de Beaune. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are planted on stony marl and Jurassic limestone soils.
The Wine
The favorite wine of Thomas Jefferson, third president of the United States, who visited Burgundy and its vineyards in 1787, bears the name of the "Goutte d'Or" parcel from which it originates, owing to the quantity of flint in the soil, shaped like drops and golden in color.
Vinification and Aging
Traditional fermentation in oak barrels with complete malolactic fermentation. Aged for 8 to 10 months in oak barrels (50% new).
Grape Variety
Chardonnay (100%)
