Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Goutte d'Or" 2023 Louis Latour

Tasting

Colour
This white wine from France reveals a brilliant pale yellow hue with exceptional luminosity.

Nose
Particularly expressive, the bouquet reveals aromas of toasted almonds and acacia honey, enriched with nuances of honeysuckle and white pepper upon aeration.

Palate
Full-bodied and round, the palate retains a remarkable freshness. It unfolds flavours of white peach, citrus fruit, almond paste and vanilla, underpinned by a pronounced minerality reminiscent of flint. The finish lingers on mineral, spicy notes with a touch of walnut oil.

Food and Wine Pairing

This cuvée pairs beautifully with shellfish such as grilled lobster or crayfish, as well as with white meats or poultry served in cream sauce. It will also surprise when paired with foie gras, blue cheeses or traditional dishes such as pike or a vol-au-vent with morels.

Service and Storage

For an optimal tasting experience, it is recommended to serve this Meursault 1er Cru "Goutte d'Or" 2023 at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. Approachable from now, it has the structure needed to evolve favourably in the cellar until around 2030.

The Richness and Precision of a Premier Cru from Meursault

The Estate

Founded in 1797, the House of Louis Latour is a true institution in Burgundy. This family estate, which spans 48 hectares of vines, holds the largest surface area of Grands Crus in the Côte d'Or. Renowned for its historic expertise and environmentally conscious approach, the producer also stands out for owning its own cooperage. Today, the twelfth generation is at the helm, represented by Eléonore Latour, who continues to uphold the heritage and independence of this prestigious French wine estate.

The Vineyard

The terroir from which this Meursault originates spans just over five hectares. The vines, averaging thirty-five years of age, benefit from an ideal easterly exposure. They thrive on soils of stony marl and Jurassic limestone, particularly rich in flint fragments whose shape and golden colour inspired the name of this emblematic plot.

Winemaking and Aging

The making of the Meursault 1er Cru "Goutte d'Or" 2023 begins with rigorous hand-harvesting. Fermentation, initiated by indigenous yeasts, starts in stainless steel tanks before continuing in French oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation takes place entirely in wood. The wine is then aged for eight to ten months in barrels crafted by the estate, half of which are new. After two gravity rackings, the wine is blended in tank, filtered and cold-stabilised before bottling.
