The richness and structure of a Red wine from the Vallée du Rhône
The estate
Founded in Tain-L’Hermitage in 1808, the Maison M. Chapoutier is now one of the essential references for wines from the Vallée du Rhône. A winemaker and merchant, Michel Chapoutier has elevated this family business to the highest level with each vintage. His wines, acclaimed by connoisseurs around the world, stand out for their finesse and exceptional quality. Holder of the world record for perfect 100/100 scores awarded by the American critic Robert Parker, Michel Chapoutier handed over the reins of the company to his daughter Mathilde, who now oversees more than 350 hectares spread across the finest appellations of the northern and southern Vallée du Rhône.
The vineyard
The Méal is a vin d'Ermitage produced from a rigorous parcel selection, sourced exclusively from the eponymous hillside. These elevated terraces, with soils composed of rolled pebbles and clay, shelter centenary vines with controlled yields, ensuring particularly concentrated grapes.
Grape variety
100% Syrah.
