The Estate
Founded in Tain-L’Hermitage in 1808, the Maison M. Chapoutier is now regarded as a benchmark among the greatest names in the Rhône Valley.
Michel Chapoutier, winegrower and wine merchant, has guided this family enterprise to excellence, vintage after vintage. The house’s wines are renowned for their refinement and outstanding quality, praised by the most demanding enthusiasts around the world. Michel Chapoutier also holds the world record for perfect scores (100/100) awarded by American critic Robert Parker.
The Vineyard
Mathilde Chapoutier, Michel’s daughter, now continues the family’s work, overseeing a vineyard of over 350 hectares, covering the most renowned appellations of the north and south of the Rhône Valley.
The Wine
The cuvée Les Greffieux, named after the first owner of the plot, is an Ermitage wine made from a single grape variety. Located at the foot of the Hermitage hill, the plot rests on a terrace of glacial alluvium. The subsoil, composed of deep clay, provides finesse and aromatic richness, while the rolled pebbles, retaining heat, impart concentration and structure to the wine.
Grape Variety
Syrah (100%).
