Characteristics and tasting notes for the Pinot Blanc 2023 Maison Trimbach
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a pale yellow hue with delicate greenish nuances.
Nose
The nose reveals a lovely aromatic concentration centred on white flowers and apricot. These are joined by notes of ripe pear, yellow apple, honeysuckle and honeycomb, all underpinned by a mineral backbone.
Palate
On the palate, this dry wine displays a light to medium body with a supple texture. The crisp, precise acidity brings a lovely freshness that echoes the fruity and floral aromas perceived on the nose. The finish is persistent, closing on subtle mineral touches.
Food and wine pairing
Ideal as an aperitif, this white wine pairs perfectly with regional specialities such as tarte flambée, as well as seafood, oysters or fried squid. It also works very well with delicate fish, creamy white meats, composed salads or soft-rind cheeses such as camembert and brie.
Service and storage
This Pinot Blanc 2023 shows its full potential now and can be cellared for enjoyment until around 2028.
Other characteristics
This dry white wine stands out for its very discreet sweetness, with a residual sugar level generally below 5 g/l, ensuring a clean and refreshing profile.
The authentic expression of Alsatian terroir by Maison Trimbach
The estate
Founded in 1626, Maison Trimbach is a historic estate located in Ribeauvillé, in the heart of the Alsace wine region in France. Now run by the thirteenth generation, with Jean Trimbach overseeing sales and Julien Trimbach in charge of technical direction, the estate carries on a centuries-old expertise. The domaine relies on around 60 hectares of its own vineyards, complemented by grape purchases from partners, all certified organic. Consistency, purity and a quest for balance are the pillars of this signature style.
The vineyard
The vines, with an average age of 45 years, flourish on the geological fault line of Ribeauvillé in Alsace. This complex terroir is made up of a mosaic of soils blending limestone, marl, sandstone and granite. The estate favours high planting density and maintains biodiversity through the presence of trees, birdhouses and a flock of sheep in winter. Harvesting and most of the vineyard work are carried out by hand.
The vintage
The year 2023 was marked by significant drought from spring onwards and particularly high temperatures in September. These climatic conditions required a rigorous selection of berries at harvest. The grapes picked thus retained good acidity and developed an intense aromatic concentration.
Winemaking and aging
The Pinot Blanc 2023 is crafted through gentle pressing followed by slow, cold fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. To preserve the wine's freshness and natural tension, malolactic fermentation is avoided and no oak aging is used. The wine is bottled early, in the spring following the harvest.
Grape varieties
70% Auxerrois, 30% Pinot Blanc.
