The estate

Located near the village of Logroño, in the north of Spain, the Bodega Marqués de Riscal has its origins in 1858. 

While the estate is one of the first viticultural institutions in Rioja, Marqués de Riscal owes its uniqueness to its pioneering spirit and its constant quest for excellence, which is reflected in its wide range of refined wines with a rich aromatic palette. 

Voted in 2011 as one of the 10 most admired brands in the world by the highly respected magazine "Drinks International", Marqués de Riscal is an essential reference both for the quality of its wines and for its exceptional architecture signed by Frank O. Gehry.

The wine

An essential reference among the wines of Rioja, Tapias de Marques de Riscal is made from a 2.85 ha vineyard (out of a total of 15 hectares) recognised as one of the most qualitative of the estate.

The vintage

A mild and rainy winter favours bud break in early April, a month marked by some frost episodes. A particularly humid June, leading to significant health pressure, precedes a hot summer and a rainy autumn which delays the harvest.
