The estate
Based in Puligny-Montrachet since 1635, Domaine Olivier Leflaive has upheld the tradition of great Burgundy wines, offering one of the finest expressions of Chardonnay in the world. At the helm of a leading Burgundy estate, Olivier Leflaive has established himself as an iconic figure of the Côte de Beaune. Patiently built up over time, the Olivier Leflaive vineyard now covers 17 hectares of vines on the greatest terroirs of Burgundy.
The vineyard
"Sous Frétilles" is a 1er Cru Pernand-Vergelesses wine whose historic name is said to mean “below the little forest”. Replanted in 1970/1980 as a village appellation, this exceptional terroir with marl-limestone soils has been classified as Premier Cru since 2001.
Vinification and ageing
Hand-harvested grapes, followed by pressing of equal parts whole and crushed grapes. Aged for 12 months (including 4 months in bulk) in barrels (20% new).
Blend
Chardonnay (100%).
