Location and Size
As an iconic winery and a founding pillar of the D.O. Rías Baixas, Bodegas La Val is one of the largest vineyard owners in the appellation, with 94 hectares of vines mainly dedicated to Albariño. These exceptional vineyards thrive across four distinct terroirs: Vilachán, Taboexa, Arantei, and Porto, producing wines of great finesse.
A remarkable mosaic of terroirs
Among these 94 hectares, four terroirs stand out, each revealing a unique identity.
Located in O Rosal, the Vilachán vineyard, planted on granite soil and facing south, benefits from the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean and a temperate climate, producing vibrant, precise wines with beautiful mineral tension. Further north, Arantei, one of the oldest vineyards in the D.O. Rías Baixas, lies on deep, clayey alluvial soil, favoring early ripening and yielding structured, balanced wines.
Nearby, Porto shares similar climatic conditions but is distinguished by the age of its vines (planted in 2010) and the presence of grape varieties such as Albariño, Treixadura, and Loureiro, lending its wines a distinctive O Condado authenticity. Finally, Taboexa, perched among the highest vineyards of Rías Baixas, sits on sandy granite soil. Here, a more contrasting climate shapes grapes with marked acidity and aromas of fresh herbs and balsamic notes, reflecting the freshness of the Atlantic terroir.

The Wines of Bodegas La Val – An Ode to Albariño
From the estate’s oldest vines, planted in 1989, comes the Arantei cuvée, which captivates with its aromatic richness and intense fruit character. Benefiting from ideal orientation and a favorable mesoclimate, the grapes yield deep and balanced musts. Manual harvesting, spontaneous fermentation, and six months of aging on fine lees give this Albariño remarkable texture and superb intensity.
Gran Añada embodies the subtle alliance between Albariño’s versatility, remarkable aging potential, and a rigorous selection of the estate’s finest terroirs. In the cellar, the same precision applies as with its predecessor, with the difference being that the wine is aged in French oak barrels (500 and 600 liters) and tanks on fine lees, under strict monitoring throughout the aging process. Combining elegance and depth, this vibrant wine reveals remarkable precision and excellent aging potential.
