Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for Pour Vous 2022 by Vincent Gaudry
Tasting
Appearance
Golden color with bright highlights.
Nose
The bouquet is expressive, developing ripe, juicy fruit aromas reminiscent of Bourdaloue tart. A backdrop of sweet spices and a touch of fine reduction completes the whole, calling for gentle aeration to reveal its full complexity.
Palate
The attack is silky, with a remarkably creamy texture. The expansive mid-palate evokes pear macerated in eau-de-vie, unfurling power that concludes on an unexpected underlying freshness. The finish oscillates between power and restrained freshness, leaving an impression of linear precision characteristic of great terroirs.
Food and wine pairing
This cuvée pairs beautifully with noble fish in sauce, creamy poultry dishes, and aged goat cheeses. It also marries very well with mushroom-based dishes and preparations featuring sweet spices.
Serving and cellaring
Pour Vous 2022 is best enjoyed at 50–54°F (10–12°C). While it already offers pleasure, this wine would benefit from further rest to fully express its potential. Drink through approximately 2030.
A generous Sancerre with beautiful precision
The estate
Created in 1993 when Vincent Gaudry took over the family estate at just 16, this Loire domaine spans 9 hectares in Sury-en-Vaux, near Sancerre. Vincent Gaudry has pioneered a biodynamic approach, certified Demeter since 2004, across three emblematic terroirs: silex, terres blanches, and caillottes. His Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir vines, averaging over 40 years old, have been replanted using massal selection from century-old parcels.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from the lieu-dit “Les Vignes blanches” in Sury-en-Vaux, on clay-limestone soils. Vines over half a century old benefit from a privileged exposure that allows Sauvignon to express all the minerality characteristic of this Sancerre terroir.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage was marked by favorable weather conditions that allowed for a slow, steady ripening of the grapes. This year delivered a remarkable balance between aromatic concentration and preserved freshness, yielding wines of great complexity.
Winemaking and aging
Hand harvesting respects the grapes’ optimal ripeness. Winemaking for Pour Vous 2022 follows last century’s tradition with fermentation in oak barrels. Aging also takes place in barrels for two years in the estate’s cellars. Bottling adheres to traditional methods, without fining or filtration, drawn directly from the cask using a two-spout gravity filler.
Grape variety
This white wine from the Loire is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from vines over half a century old.
