An exceptional red wine from the Rhône Valley, born from the collaboration between a Michelin-starred chef and a renowned winemaker
The estate
Created in 1808, Maison M. Chapoutier finds its roots in the Rhône Valley at Tain-l'Hermitage. This family estate, now led by Michel Chapoutier and his daughter Mathilde, farms vineyards in the prestigious appellations of Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A pioneer of biodynamics since the 1980s and the first wine house to offer Braille labels, it combines Rhone tradition with responsible innovation.
The vineyard
Born from a collaboration between the domaine M.Chapoutier and French chef Yannick Alléno, this cuvée "Couronne de Chabot Blanc" is a Saint-Joseph wine made from thirty-year-old vineyards resting on fine-textured granite soils of the lieu-dit Chabot, the late-ripening sector of Tournon-sur-Rhône renowned for its exceptional terroirs. This partnership between a three-star, perfectionist chef and a committed, activist winemaker has given rise since 2010 to this cuvée, elegantly expressing the essence of a great Rhône terroir.
Vinification and aging
Hand-harvested. After destemming, the grapes undergo slow fermentation in small concrete tanks, followed by maceration of about four weeks. Aging takes place over sixteen months in barrels, allowing the wine to develop its aromatic complexity while preserving the freshness of the fruit.
Grape variety
100% Syrah.
