Description
The estate
Located in the heart of southern Tuscany, Altesino is an estate whose exceptional terroir was designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2004.
With its high regard for the vines and the surrounding nature, this estate excels in the production of fine Brunello di Montalcino DOCG wines, one of the main appellations in Italy. A forerunner, the Altesino estate introduced two major innovations within the appellation, the concept of "cru" in 1975 and barrel vinification in 1979.
Paying close attention to the terroir, rigour and diligence both in the vineyard and during vinification are the keystones of this estate. Spread over 80 hectares, 44 of which are vineyards, the estate is renowned for its high quality wines.
