The property
Daughter of one of the most prominent wine-growing families in Burgundy, Francine Picard took over the estate historically run by her father in the late 1990s. The Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate spans the municipalities of Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin, at the heart of the most beautiful climates and terroirs of the Burgundy wine region.

In a desire for synergy between the land and the wines, Francine Picard cultivates her plots respecting the principles of biodynamics and applies herself with passion and extreme attention to produce wines reflecting the identity of their terroir.
Coming from a vineyard of 110 hectares worked in "agro-ecology", the chardonnay and pinot noir of the Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate are recognized for their quality, precision and elegance.
Since May 2019, Antoine Lepetit de la Bigne, a specialist in biodynamic viticulture, has joined the estate's team as Technical Director.

The vineyard
This Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets comes from vines planted in the early 1990s. Located at 200 meters altitude, on the hillside, the subsoil of this plot facing south southeast is very calcareous. Covered with only ten to twenty centimeters of soil, this terroir is mainly composed of white marls.

Vinification and aging
Harvested and sorted by hand, the grapes are pressed whole. In the pure respect of Burgundy tradition, alcoholic fermentation is carried out in barrels. The aging lasts 18 months on lees, including 10 months in wood (Burgundy piece).

This Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Les Caillerets 2022 from the Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate is a 100% chardonnay.
