Delamotte : Brut Rosé

An aromatic and delicate rosé champagne by Maison Delamotte

The estate

Founded in 1760, the Delamotte Champagne House is one of the five oldest houses in the Champagne region. Located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, in Mesnil-sur-Oger, the Delamotte House shares the same goal-oriented approach as the mythical neighbouring house, Salon. Under the direction of Didier Depond, the Houses benefit from the same sales team, a single vineyard division and a shared Cellar Master who all watch over the destiny of the two sister houses. Delamotte is thus one of the few wine merchants to work with passion and respect for the environment, in order to express the unique terroir of Champagne.

The vineyard

The elegant Delamotte style stems from the unique location of its vineyards. All the grapes come from the Grands Crus in the Côte des Blancs, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant.

The wine

The Brut Rosé by Delamotte is the latest addition to the house's range.

Vinification and ageing

The Brut Rosé by Delamotte is made using the traditional saignée method. Rarely used in Champagne, this method consists of leaving the skin of the grapes to macerate with their flesh before and/or during fermentation in order to extract colour, aromatic richness, elegance and structure. After bottling, this Brut Rosé by Delamotte is aged for around three years on its lees before disgorging.

The blend

Delamotte's Brut Rosé comprises a blend of Pinot Noir (80%) from the fine growths in the Montagne de Reims and Chardonnay (20%) from Mesnil-sur-Oger.

The tasting

Refined, this Brut Rosé by Maison Delamotte has an intense nose and exudes aromas of red fruits (raspberry, wild strawberry, redcurrant). Very delicate, the palate offers a slightly smoky note with a good length.

Food and wine pairing

This Brut Rosé by Maison Delamotte goes perfectly with a raspberry tart or a red fruit soup.

Service

For an optimal tasting experience, serve around 8°C in an elegant tulip-shaped wine glass.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Disgorged in June 2018, the latest release of Delamotte's NV Brut Rosé is showing very well, offering up notes of orange rind, rhubarb, white cherries, pastry cream and brioche. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and beautifully balanced, with an elegant, understated profile, superb focus and a long, delicately chalky finish.
