Description
The estate
In the depths of its 3 kilometres of underground chalk tunnels of Gallo-Roman origin, the prestigious Champagne Joseph Perrier carefully guards a know-how and respect for tradition handed down over many generations. Each plot is vinified and aged separately in order to express the identity of each terroir.
Vinification and ageing
The Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale Brut Nature is a champagne which exhibits a great purity to which no dosage has been added. Based on the 2013 vintage, which was chosen for its famous freshness, 24% of the blend is made of reserve wines. The Cuvée Royale Brut Nature was aged for 72 months on lees.
Blend
Chardonnay (62%)
Pinot Meunier (24%)
Pinot Noir (14%).
Tasting
Colour
The fine effervescence of this champagne is highlighted by a rather deep gold vermeil colour.
Nose
On the nose, delicate floral fragrances dominate, particularly rose and peony. Followed by notes of spice which take over in a very pleasant and intense manner.
Palate
Cuvée Royale Brut Nature is a direct and pure champagne that is both round and powerful. On the palate, this is showcased by a lively attack that introduces acidulous aromas of apple and pear, as well as more ripe notes of yellow fruits (nectarine), all enhanced by a hint of pepper.
Food and wine pairing
Versatile, the Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale Brut Nature is very pleasant as an aperitif, but can just as easily pair with a wide variety of dishes: raw fish, shellfish, Asian cuisine.
Service
Cuvée Royale Brut Nature should be served at an ideal temperature of between 8 and 10°C.
