Description

A Brut Nature Rosé champagne blending finesse and complexity

The producer

Founded in 1776 in Reims, the Louis Roederer Champagne House has remained family-owned and independent. After over 200 years of existence, the Louis Roederer House is still owned by the same family. Today, headed by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the family’s seventh generation, Louis Roederer embodies the excellence of Champagne wines throughout the world, due to its vintages that are crafted like true works of art.

The vineyard

Comprising nearly 241 hectares of vines, the Louis Roederer House’s strength comes from its extraordinary vineyard, made up entirely of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. An impressive patchwork of terroirs, the Louis Roederer vineyard is divided into 410 plots that reflect the diversity of the Champagne region’s soils.

The wine

Made exclusively from the "La Rivière" vineyard, the Brut Nature Rosé by Philippe Starck 2015 is the fruit of a collaboration between the famous designer Philippe Starck and the prestigious Louis Roederer Champagne House.

The vintage

Starting with a mild and wet winter, 2015 was marked by a hot and dry summer. The rainy spells in August saved the vineyard.

Vinification and ageing

11% of the vinification is carried out in oak. No malolactic fermentation. 20% of the Pinot Noirs are vinified separately for five days before being blended with 80% of the Brut Nature Blanc juice.

The blend

Pinot Noir (50%)

Chardonnay (37%)

Pinot Meunier (13%).

Louis Roederer Brut Nature Rosé by Philippe Starck 2015: Characteristics and tasting tips

The tasting

Colour
The brilliant colour reveals a beautiful pink hue.

Nose
The intense nose blends citrus fruit (blood oranges from Etna), red fruit (blackcurrant) and spices (hint of camphor). When aerated, the bouquet reveals subtle honeyed notes reminiscent of gingerbread.

Palate
The ample and concentrated palate exhibits an alluringly delicious texture and a pleasant balance. The palate blends spicy (camphor) and smoky aromas with refreshing iodine notes.
