The elegance and richness of a Brut Vintage signed by Pol Roger
The Estate
Founded in 1849 by Pol Roger in Épernay, this family-run Champagne house is among the last to remain fully independent. Managed by the Pol Roger and de Billy families, it crafts its champagnes from its own estate vineyards. Renowned for its historic connection with Winston Churchill and its eponymous prestige cuvée created in 1975, Pol Roger shines internationally with a strong export focus.
The Vineyard
Maison Pol Roger oversees an exceptional Champagne vineyard spanning 92 hectares, including some of the finest plots of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.
The Cuvée
To mark its 175th anniversary, Pol Roger is offering a very limited release of old vintages from its iconic cuvées. These bottles, disgorged at the original launch date, were then returned to the cellars for extended aging, remaining undisturbed until their release. They also feature hand-applied labels inspired by the original designs and are presented in a wooden case.
This Brut Vintage Édition Vinothèque 2000 is crafted from grapes sourced from 20 Grand and Premier Cru vineyards located on the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. These exceptional terroirs, cultivated according to Champagne traditions, benefit from optimal exposures and soils for expressing the noble grape varieties of Champagne.
The Vintage
The year 2000 was marked by variable weather, with a dry, mild winter, a rainy spring, and hailstorms in July. The return of sunshine in August and September allowed for a healthy harvest with excellent sugar-acidity balance in the musts.
Winemaking and Aging
Gentle pressing followed by double settling. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature in stainless steel vats, with separate vinification of grape varieties and crus. After full malolactic fermentation, the champagne spends 10 years aging in the cellar before riddling and disgorgement. Magnums were disgorged in October 2010, bottles in November 2011. Further aging in the Vinothèque at a depth of 33 meters completes the maturation. A dosage of 8 g/l provides perfect balance between freshness and aromatic complexity.
Blend
60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay.
