Description
The elegance and aromatic richness of a Grand Cru champagne by Taittinger
The producer
The history of the Taittinger Champagne House began in the early 20th century. Ran by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and his two children, Clovis and Vitalie, the Taittinger House has managed to preserve its family spirit by producing champagnes that are resolutely Chardonnay in style. Since 1st January 2020, Vitalie Taittinger is the President of the Taittinger Champagne House.
The vineyard
The vineyards of the Taittinger Champagne House stretch over 288 hectares of vines and include 37 different crus. This makes Taittinger the third largest vineyard in Champagne. The entire vineyard holds the High Environmental Value certificate.
The vinification and ageing
Made from first press wines only, this Prélude Grands Crus by Taittinger is seducing due to its finesse, its structure and its delicate alliance between the minerality of Chardonnay and the aromatic richness of Pinot Noir. This Champagne has benefited from a 5-year ageing period in the cellars of the house.
The blend
Taittinger's Prélude Grands Crus comprises a blend of Chardonnay (50%) and Pinot Noir (50%), both rigorously selected from classified Grands Crus terroirs.
The tasting
Colour
The colour of Taittinger's Prélude Grands Crus is a bright pale yellow with silvery highlights due to the strong presence of Chardonnay. The finesse of the bubbles persists, creating a bead of smooth foam.
Nose
At first, the nose expresses mineral scents, before giving way to floral and vegetal aromas, enhanced by delicate hints of spicy cinnamon.
Palate
On the palate, the attack of this Champagne is surprisingly intense and brilliantly fresh with citrus notes. The texture evolves towards a rounder and silkier aspect, allowing the flavours of white peaches in syrup to express themselves. The finish of Taittinger's Prélude Grands Crus is long and intense.
