The Singular Expression of a Great White Bordeaux from Château Closiot
The estate
Officially established in 1988, Château Closiot is a wine estate located in Barsac, in the Bordeaux region. Historically run by the Sirot-Soizeau family, the estate reached a major turning point in 2017 when it was acquired by Jean-Marie Guffens, the renowned Mâconnais winemaker. Under his leadership, the vineyard now covers around 8 hectares. Moving away from the local tradition of sweet wines, the current owner brings his Burgundian expertise to bear, crafting highly distinctive dry white wines that combine richness with mineral tension.
The vineyard
This wine from the Dry White Bordeaux category comes from Clos Bonneau, an exceptional terroir located on the Barsac plateau. The vines thrive on complex soils of red clayey sands, gravel and clay-limestone deposits, all resting on a bedrock of fissured limestone typical of the area. Vineyard management draws on organic principles, favouring an environmentally respectful approach and meticulous care of this small vineyard.
Vinification and ageing
The production of C de Sec 2025 relies on Burgundy-inspired methods. A large proportion of the must is fermented and aged in oak barrels, around 25% of which are new. To preserve the purity of the fruit and the mineral expression of the terroir, certain varieties, such as Muscadelle, are vinified in concrete vats. Ageing continues on fine lees with regular bâtonnage, bringing roundness, volume and complexity to the final blend.
Grape varieties
This wine is a blend of Sémillon (90%), Sauvignon Gris (5%) and Muscadelle (5%).
