Decanter

Ripe blackcurrant and cherry aromas with some dried herbs and floral aspects – liquorice, cola, cinnamon, violets, peonies and bramble berries. Intense and concentrated from the start with equally vibrant acidity to match the quite lively, ripe and fresh fruit. Well textured, crushed velvet in the mouth, immediately quite serious and profound. Dark, heady, sexy almost but still relatively compact and tightly wound right now. Firm, fresh, lively but balanced acidity and dark fruit with a liquorice and salty edge. Incredibly compelling, a wine you want to sit with. Still quite high acidity – I think ageing will round this out and add a touch of gloss. A yield of 33hl/ha. Ageing 75% new oak.

Violets, lilies, chocolate, espresso, plums, black cherries, and truffle aromatics already pop in the perfume. The palate is where the action really takes place. With just a swirl, and sip, you find concentrated layers of fleshy, opulent, creamy-textured, fruits, berries, chocolate, wet earth, and espresso. The complex, and powerful, velvet-drenched, opulent, lengthy finish continues along the same theme with a vibrant, polish to the hedonistic end notes that keep everything going long after your glass has been finished. The wine is produced from a blend of 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc, 14.5% ABV. The harvest took place September 4 - September 12. Drink from 2030-2065. 98-100 Pts

Luscious dark cassis and bilberry fruits, pure perfume, peony and red rose petals, a standout in Pomerol, there is an enveloping and expansive mid palate with full on fennel and anis on close of play, so good, a wine full of emotion and grace. 75% new oak. Harvest September 4 to 12. Cooler fermentation than usual, not higher than 28C, because thick skins. 3.5ph. 4.5ha, so only 3 tanks compared to 5 normally, 30hll/ha. Olivier Guatraut cellar master with Noémie Durantou winemaker.

Eglise-Clinet takes no shortcuts and makes no show. It is a wine that favors clarity and subtlety, but also precision. Going straight to the point while still conveying depth is a stylistic exercise this wine masters brilliantly. Hints of licorice and blackberries mingle with aromas of anise and violets, underscoring its multiplicity and inherent complexity. The harmony between freshness, depth and subtlety is captivating. On the palate, the wine unfolds gradually. Slightly saline on the attack, it sets off with restraint and slowly gains breadth. Its lively acidity, together with the tannins, provides a solid, invigorating backbone that sustains continuous energy without losing momentum, with extraordinary consistency—or Constance! Eglise-Clinet also stands out for its ability to shine on the finish, where the path often affects the outcome; here, it delivers a striking, moving and convincing resurgence of tension, freshness and expression. Eglise-Clinet is exemplary: it tells, in its own way, the story of a challenging vintage, with an ability to reveal details that are not the result of constraints, but of a terroir the winegrowers have listened to attentively to draw out the very best. A brilliant wine once again—and that is never a given; it is necessarily the fruit of daily dedication. Sincerely, bravo.

Deep, purple-red color, vibrant and beautiful. Intense, delicate nose, fruity, subtle, fresh and floral, with hints of black fruit. Ultra-precise on the attack, creamy on the mid-palate, with a slow, unhurried development, the wine moves forward with depth, complexity and nobility toward a long, sappy finish. An unspittable combination with refined power, followed by pronounced notes of licorice and violet on the finish. Superb! Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 14.25% - pH: 3.58 - IPT: 84 versus 78 on average. Yield: 32 hl/ha.

Description

The refinement and vivacity of a Pomerol wine

The estate

Born from the merger of plots from Clos L'Église and Château Clinet, Château L'Église-Clinet was established in 1882 by Monsieur Mauléon-Rouchut, an ancestor of Denis Durantou. Located in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, this emblematic estate of the Bordeaux right bank took on its current name in 1955. It is now regarded as one of the most confidential and sought-after crus of the appellation.

The vineyard

The vines, planted on deep clay soils combined with gravel, benefit from an exceptional terroir at the heart of the Pomerol plateau. This unique geological setting gives the wine richness, finesse and depth.

Vinification and ageing

The manual harvest took place from 10 to 14 September. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, 75% of which are new, in order to preserve the intensity of the fruit while bringing a beautiful oaky complexity. Alcohol content: 14.50% vol.

Blend

The blend of Château L'Église-Clinet 2025 consists of Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).
