Description
The richness of a red Grand Vin from Pessac-Léognan
Following a rainy spring, which threatened frost and hail, Château Latour-Martillac recorded some attacks from mildew on certain parcels of its vineyard.
The beautiful dry and warm summer that followed helped achieve an ideal ripeness among the grapes, with a very promising harvest that began on September 17 for the red varieties.
The Grand Vin of the property, the Château Latour-Martillac red 2018 rewarded all the effort made by the Château's technical teams. It has indeed taken all their attention and know-how to get the most out of this harvest. Only the most beautiful fruit was selected, especially in the parcels affected by mildew. The Château Latour-Martillac team’s experience and fantastic technical tools allowed for a very rigorous and qualitative selection.
Made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), complemented by Merlot (32%) and Petit Verdot (8%), the Château Latour-Martillac red 2018 displays all the distinctive qualities of a great red wine from Pessac-Léognan.
Product of a great vintage for Bordeaux, the Château Latour-Martillac red 2018 presents a beautiful and very intense colour in the glass. The nose is very expressive, seducing with notes of ripe black berries (blackcurrant) and cherry flavours, and evolving liquorice notes. The bouquet is beautifully complemented with floral notes, reminiscent of peony. On the palate, the wine reveals a juicy texture and powerful tannic structure, while maintaining a perfect balance. The long finish offers beautiful aromatic notes. A hauntingly beautiful 2018 vintage for Château Latour-Martillac.
