Decanter

Really fruit forward on the nose with so much red and blue berry aromas - fragrant and super expressive. Supple and succulent, juicy and so lively, really energetic and bright on the mid-palate but not too tart or sharp. Clean and pure, maybe a touch light but there’s no doubting this is fun and elegant at the same time. Fruity, so juicy, succulent and mouthwatering with really fine tannins. Finessed with lots to like here because it all feels so well balanced - on a wire but compelling. A yield of 30hl/ha. 3.5pH. 100% new oak.

Plums, black cherries, red fruits, purple flowers, cocoa, and licorice form the fragrant, aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with lift and energy, showing a sweet, fresh, juicy feel. The nearly bright red-berry finish comes with accents of citrus, cocoa, and black raspberries, plus a touch of salt on the very back end. Give it a year or two, then enjoy it with pleasure over the following two decades. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. 13.5% ABV. Drink from 2029-2048. 94-95 Pts

Moreish, well paced, skilfully constructed, limestone DNA with its slate and chalk that scrapes without being overly intrusive, and the fruits just offer so much juice. Definitely one I would like to have in my cellar, very easy to recommend. 100% new oak barrel, and you barely feel it. 30hl/h yield, harvest September 11 to 18. In organic conversion; 3.5ph. In the family since 1921.

A lovely fruit-driven expression where notes of blackberry mingle with red berry aromas, followed by chalky nuances. Subtle on the palate at first, the wine creates a symbiosis between the charm of Merlot and the freshness of Cabernet Franc. The tannins emerge later, providing a high-quality framework as well as plenty of energy. Now it’s a matter of channeling this; ageing will bring the fine ambitions of Moulin Saint-Georges to fruition.

Deep, intense, vibrant red color. Very aromatic, refined nose, fruity and pure, turning spicy when swirled in the glass. Extremely precise on the attack, very aromatic on the mid-palate, the wine develops without any tannic heaviness toward a long, fragrant finish. A nuanced, very good overall impression. Blend: 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc. Ageing: 18 months in new oak barrels. Alcohol: 13.5% - pH: 3.5. Yield: 30 hl/ha. Merlot harvest: September 11 and 12; Cabernet Franc: September 17 and 18.

Vinum

At times a touch more oak-driven than the other Vauthier wines; dark and red fruit, blond tobacco, vanilla, floral notes; an approachable palate that then grips, with powdery tannins wrapping around the crisp fruit; exceedingly delicate, with poise and bite; the oak is barely noticeable on the palate; a long, saline finish. Very fresh, this Moulin Saint-Georges.

An elegant and generous Saint-Émilion crafted by Château Moulin Saint-Georges

The estate
Located at the southern entrance of the medieval village, Château Moulin Saint-Georges is an estate from the Bordeaux region facing the famous Château Ausone. The creation of the estate in its modern era dates back to 1921, the year of its acquisition by the Vauthier family. This cru stands out for its historic family expertise in producing wines renowned for their great elegance.

The vineyard
The 7-hectare vineyard extends over west and north-west facing slopes, a cooler terroir shaped by the Fongaban stream. The vines, with an average age of 37 years, thrive on clay-limestone soils typical of the Saint-Émilion appellation. Planting density varies from 5,000 to 12,600 vines per hectare depending on the plot. Committed to an environmentally respectful approach, the estate is currently undergoing conversion to organic farming.

The vintage
The climatic conditions of this year were marked by two heatwaves. However, the specific exposure of the slopes helped preserve beautiful freshness and optimal acidity within the berries. The manual harvest took place on 11 and 12 September for the Merlot, then on 17 and 18 September for the Cabernet Franc.

Winemaking and aging
After manual harvesting and meticulous sorting by density, plot-by-plot vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Extractions are carried out gently through rack-and-return, with a maceration of about one month. The wine then benefits from a careful 18-month aging in new barrels. Alcohol content: 13.50%.

Grape varieties
This wine is made from a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.
