Decanter

Sweet black cherry and blackberry fruits, with good balance and freshness on the finish. Mouthwatering, with touches of grilled rosemary, pepper and woodsmoke. A consistent success rate at this property that is owned by Millésima négociants. Vineyards of gravel and sand soils over a clay subsoil. A yield of 22hl/ha, aged in 25% new oak.

Medium-bodied with tobacco leaf, herbs, olives and red berries on the nose as well as in the fresh, chewy, bright, ready to drink, medium-bodied palate.

Andreas Larsson

Andreas Larsson

Inky dark purple colour. The nose offers fine oak derived notes of mocha, spice and butterscotch with wild berries and cassis notes. The palate is slightly above medium weight but with muscular and dense fruit, plenty of vigorous tannin adding freshness, finely tuned oak and a long pure finish. Fine potential, drink from 2023.

Weinwisser

Deep purple-garnet. Ripe plum bouquet, followed by fragrant cassis and light tobacco. A fleshy palate with firm, finely crumbly extract and demanding tannins, gently drying on the finish. A tightly knit finale of black berries and rosewood, rounded out thanks to its strong underlying structure.

Slight lack of character at this stage in its development, despite well-crafted tannins.

Yves Beck

A fruity, complex bouquet with good intensity. It successfully combines notes of freshness and ripeness through nuances of mint, raspberries and prunes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and dense. It features elegant, silky tannins and a lively structure. Juicy, fruit-driven finish.

Description

A red Grand Vin from Haut-Médoc

The Grand Vin of the property, the Château Peyrabon 2018 reveals the typicality of a wine from Haut-Médoc.

Nestled in lush greenery on the left bank of the Bordeaux region, the Château Peyrabon estate expands over an exceptional vineyard whose gravelly rump terroir suits perfectly the appellation’s signature grape variety, Cabernet Sauvignon.

A manual harvest is followed by optical sorting of the fruit, to ensure that only the highest quality fruit is used in the blend.

The Château Peyrabon 2018 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (49%), complemented beautifully by Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (3%). The wine is traditionally aged in oak barrels (of which 29% is new wood) for a period of 14 months.
