Description
A fruity and delicate Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
The estate
With its origins dating back to the 18th century, Château Soutard takes its name from a very old hamlet situated on the unique limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion. Since 2006, Château Soutard has been owned by the insurance company AG2R LA MONDIALE.
The vineyard
Château Soutard looks after a 30-hectare single-block vineyard, of which 21.14 hectares are used for production and give rise to a fine Saint-Emilion wines. The vines are 20 years old on average and are planted mainly on the clay-limestone plateau as well as on clay slopes and sandy hilltops.
Vinification and ageing
Following the harvest, the grapes are kept in a cold room. A density sorting is carried out before the grapes are transferred using a gravity-flow method into temperature controlled wooden vats and double-walled stainless steel truncated-cone vats. The wine is aged in French oak barrels (60% new barrels, 40% first-fill barrels).
The blend
Merlot (69%)
Cabernet Franc (24%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (4%)
Malbec (3%).
