Description
The authentic expression of a Corsican red wine from Figari
The estate
In 1993, the passionate and visionary Yves Canarelli took over a vineyard near Figari, which lies at the south of Corsica. A proponent of local grape varieties, he restructured and expanded this terroir until it reached 28 hectares of vines which count as one of the most beautiful references in Corsican wines.
The vineyard
The Clos Canarelli vineyard is certified Organic Framing since 2002 and in biodynamism since 2006. Clos Canarelli wines are vinified in modern facilities and recognised for their precision as well as their authentic expression of their terroir of origin.
The wine
The Amphora 2017 cuvée is a magnificent expression of Corsican terroirs and Yves Canarelli’s winegrowing know-how. The Amphora 2017 cuvée reflects the winemaker’s desire to explore new vinification techniques in order to produce great Corsican wines.
Winemaking and ageing
After destemming, the grapes used to produce the Amphora 2017 cuvée by Clos Canarelli are trampled underfoot before being macerated for 4 to 8 weeks. Vinification is carried out without adding any sulphur into clay amphorae. The Amphora 2017 cuvée is then aged for 4 months in 6-year-old barrels before being bottled without fining, filtration or adding any sulphites.
Blend
Produced in the Corse Figari wine appellation, the Amphora 2017 by Clos Canarelli is made from native grape varieties: Niellucciu, Sciacarellu, Minustello, Carcaghjolu and Moresconu.
