Description
The balance and elegance of a Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Émilion
Product of a very good vintage for Bordeaux, the Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion – Clos des Jacobins – has produced an exceptional wine in the year 2018.
A prestigious reference of its appellation, Clos des Jacobins oversees a very large vineyard spread over 8.3 hectares, located at the foot of a hill with excellent southern exposure. The vines are planted in great limestone soils.
A blend of Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc (18%) and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Clos des Jacobins 2018 is aged for 18 months in oak barrels of which 75% is new wood.
At the tasting, the Clos des Jacobins 2018 displays an intensely dense and deep purple colour. The very expressive nose offers ripe fruit and pure black fruits, like cherry and blueberry. Menthol and liquorice notes appear, along with beautiful mineral touches. On the palate, the wine evolves a certain liveliness, tension and generosity, enhanced by the crunchy and juicy fruit. The palate is smooth, with an elegant structure and perfectly integrated tannins. With freshness and tone, the finish lingers long.
A great vintage for the Clos des Jacobins, a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion with a great ageing potential.
