An Authentic Romorantin from the Winegrowing Heritage of Domaine National de Chambord
The estate
Owned by the French State since 1930, the Domaine National de Chambord is an exceptional heritage site that has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981. This 5,440-hectare estate was built from 1519 by Francis I. In 2015, it revived its winegrowing tradition by replanting 14 hectares of vines, cultivated using certified organic farming.
The vineyard
This Vin de France comes from north-south-facing vines planted on predominantly sandy soils mixed with clay in the subsoil. The grapes are hand-harvested every year at optimal ripeness.
Winemaking and ageing
After being hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, Romorantin 2022 undergoes cold settling. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out at a low temperature in order to slow the process and enhance the primary aromas. Winemaking and ageing take place entirely in stainless steel tanks. No malolactic fermentation is carried out. The wine is made and aged at Domaine de Chambord, without the addition of artificial yeasts.
Grape variety
Romorantin (100%) is a historic and rare grape variety, introduced by Francis I. It gives the wine excellent ageing potential as well as a singular aromatic complexity.
