Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Sancerre "Le Château" 2023 from Domaine Vincent Pinard
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals a beautiful pale yellow hue, with a radiant brightness.
Nose
Wonderfully complex, the nose exudes citrus aromas such as grapefruit, lemon and kumquat, harmoniously blended with notes of white flowers like jasmine and acacia. It then opens up to subtle iodized, chalky mineral touches, complemented by herbaceous nuances and a delicate hint of brioche.
Palate
The attack reveals lovely vivacity and a precise mineral tension. The mid-palate offers a rich, generous texture, perfectly balanced by the wine's energy. The finish, exceptionally long, lingers on superb saline notes.
Food and wine pairing
This great white wine pairs wonderfully with shellfish such as langoustines or lobster, as well as with oysters or white-fleshed fish. It also perfectly accompanies poultry in creamy sauces, fresh goat cheeses, or dishes featuring spring vegetables such as asparagus.
Service and storage
To fully enjoy this Sancerre "Le Château" 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 10 and 12°C, ideally after decanting for 15 to 30 minutes. This wine can be enjoyed from 2025 and will continue to evolve until around 2043.
Other characteristics
This wine has an alcohol content of 14%. To preserve its full aromatic complexity and texture, it is bottled without prior fining or filtration.
The pure, mineral expression of a great Sancerre wine
The estate
Located in the village of Bué, in the heart of the Loire Valley, Domaine Vincent Pinard is an essential reference. While the family's winemaking history dates back several centuries, the estate was officially established in 1996. Today, brothers Florent and Clément Pinard are at the helm of this vineyard. Deeply committed to respecting their terroir, they favor a minimal-intervention approach and sustainable farming practices to craft wines of great purity, reflecting the full richness of their soils.
The vineyard
Hailing from the Sancerre appellation, this cuvée comes from a plot located at the top of a hill, at an altitude ranging between 250 and 270 meters. South-facing, the roughly fifty-year-old vines thrive on a complex "caillottes" terroir, composed of Kimmeridgian limestone mixed with clay and marl.
The vintage
The year 2023 was marked by particularly warm and sunny weather conditions, favoring excellent berry ripeness.
Winemaking and aging
After manual harvesting and rigorous sorting, the berries of the Sancerre "Le Château" 2023 are gently pressed. Fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeasts in demi-muids and stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged on the lees for approximately 18 months, with roughly two-thirds in new oak barrels and one-third in neutral wood vessels.
