A Provençal rosé with complex aromas and remarkable minerality from Domaines Ott*
The estate
Created in 1896 by Marcel Ott, an Alsatian agronomic engineer, the Domaines Ott* cover three emblematic estates in Provence : Château de Selle, Clos Mireille and Château Romassan. Owned by the Louis Roederer group since 2004, the house remains under the leadership of Jean-François Ott, representing the fourth family generation. Pioneers of high-quality Provençal viticulture, the estates have practiced certified organic farming since 2022 and are recognized worldwide for their exceptional vintage rosés.
The vineyard
Château de Selle covers 84 hectares of exceptional terroir in the AOC Côtes de Provence. The soils, composed of gypsum, red clay, sandstone, gravel and stones, offer remarkable geological diversity. Surrounded by pine forests and woodlands, this vineyard benefits from a preserved environment that contributes to the unique expression of its wines.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage benefited from a mild and rainy spring without excess, followed by a hot and dry summer with cool nights. These climatic conditions allowed for a progressive and homogeneous ripening, yielding healthy and balanced grapes. This favorable weather emphasized aromatic finesse and good acidity, highlighting elegance and aging potential.
Winemaking and aging
The harvest for Château de Selle Rosé 2024 is carried out by hand with strict selective sorting. The extremely delicate pressing is performed without maceration with a short skin contact. Fermentation takes place in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks, followed by an aging period of four to six months without malolactic fermentation, thus preserving the wine’s freshness and aromatic purity.
Grape varieties
The blend consists of 55% grenache, 30% cinsault, 12% mourvèdre and 3% syrah. Grenache provides great balance, cinsault adds suppleness, while syrah and mourvèdre contribute fruit and structure to the whole.
