Description
Gianni Brunelli releases a concentrated and balanced Brunello di Montalcino red wine
The estate
A passionate restaurateur, Gianni Brunelli fulfilled his family's dream in 1987 by buying his father's old estate "Le Chiuse di Sotto," and then in 1997 the Podernovone Estate, with the ambition of producing great Brunello di Montalcino wines. When Gianni Brunelli died in 2008, his wife Laura took over the management of the estate.
The wines of this Tuscan estate are renowned around the world for their elegance, balance and great ageing potential.
The vineyard
The Tuscan Gianni Brunelli estate oversees a terroir of 6.5 hectares run on organic agriculture practices.
The wine
This is a Brunello di Montalcino wine produced from the vineyards of Podernovone (500 metres above sea level) and Canalicchio (250 metres above sea level). The vines are 23 and 32 years old respectively and are planted on soils composed of marl, schist, limestone, sand and white clay. The label is illustrated with a painting called "Elvira with a hat" by the economist and painter Richard M. Goodwin, a friend of Gianni and Laura. The painting, which is still on display at Osteria Le Logge, is of Elvira, Gianni Brunelli's mother.
Blend
Brunello di Montalcino 2018 from Gianni Brunelli is 100% Sangiovese.
