Description
The Pure Generosity of a Great Pauillac Full of Elegance
Second Wine of the illustrious Grand Cru Classé of the Pauillac appellation, the Petit Mouton of Château Mouton Rothschild joins the ranks of the most emblematic wines from the Left Bank of Bordeaux.
Created by the late and legendary Baroness Philippine de Rothschild in 1993, Le Petit Mouton of Mouton Rothschild symbolises vintage and vintage all the richesse and elegance of the great wines of Pauillac.
With a strong emphasis on Cabernet Sauvignon (81%), complemented by Merlot (17%) and Cabernet Franc (2%), the blend of the 2017 vintage highlights the personality of Petit Mouton. Product of an exceptional terroir, the vine parcels from which the fruit was sourced were spared the devastation of frost occurring at the end of April.
With perfectly ripened berries bursting with anthocyanins, Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild 2017 charms the eye with the depth of its purple colour. The richesse of the aromatic bouquet calls forth notes of fresh black berries, and swirling the wine reveals intense fragrances of liquorice and pepper. The palate is presented through a fresh attack that gains in power, revealing raw structured and polished tannins. The palate presents a harmonious balance between generous fruit and tension in the mouth. The finish is punctuated by notes of black fruits, reminiscent of the delicate acidity of blackcurrant. The purity of the mouth persists on a very generous length. A Petit Mouton with great potential.
