A Burgundy red wine from the heart of the Côte de Nuits
The estate
Established in 1797 by Jean Latour in Beaune, Louis Latour draws its roots from a Burgundian family tradition dating back to 1731. Now led by the eleventh generation of the Latour family, the house maintains the custom that each head bears the first name Louis. A pioneer in modern winemaking techniques since the 19th century, the estate cultivates exceptional vineyards in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Its historic Beaune cellars preserve two centuries of winegrowing expertise, combining innovation with respect for ancestral traditions.
The vineyard
The Chambertin appellation is located at the heart of the Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits, on a remarkable terroir renowned for its unique geological richness. The Latour family owns 0.81 hectare in a single plot, closer to Latricières than to Clos de Bèze. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are rooted in Bajocian clay subsoil topped with shallow limestone soils mixed with gravel and clay.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested before traditional vinification in open vats, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, with a medium toast, bringing structure and complexity to the wine.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
