Founded in 1797, the Maison Louis Latour is today represented by the 11th generation with Lousi-Fabrice Latour at its head. Merchant-winemaker, the Maison Louis Latour is the owner of the largest estate of Grand Crus in Burgundy.
This "Cuvée Héritiers Latour" 2016 from Louis Latour is a Chambertin Grand cru wine developed from a plot of 0.81 hectares on a single piece of land, acquired at the end of the 19th century by the Latour family. The name of the wine refers to the passing down of this exceptional heritage plot to the descendants of the Latour family.
Winemaking and ageing
Once the harvests were done by hand, fermentation was carried out in the traditional Burgundy way – in open vats, with a 100% malolactic fermentation. Ageing was carried out over 10-12 months in French oak casks (100% new), made by the Louis Latour cooperage.
Pinot noir (100%).
The wine has a beautiful ruby colour, enhanced by garnet highlights.
The nose is complex, revealing scents of almond, nutmeg and flowers.
Full and potent, the palate mingles spicy and fruity (fresh raspberry and sour cherry) scents.
This Burgundy red wine can be laid down until about 2031.
Food and wine pairing
Venison in a daube or cooked with pepper sauce, accompanied by a celeriac purée, or cheese (Soumaintrain) are excellent choices to pair with this Chambertin wine.
For the best tasting, serve between 16 and 17°C.
