A Meursault Premier Cru from the prestigious Perrières climat
The estate
Founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour remains an independent family-owned company. Based in Aloxe-Corton in Burgundy, it owns 50 hectares of vineyards, including 28.6 hectares of Grands Crus, making it the largest owner of Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy.
The vineyard
The Perrières climat lies in the southern part of Meursault, close to Volnay and Pommard, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. The vines, 35 years old on average, are rooted in shallow, stony soils composed of marl and Jurassic limestone. These geological features give the Perrières terroir its exceptional quality, placing this climat among the most renowned in the village of Meursault. The grapes are harvested by hand, with an average yield of 40 hectolitres per hectare.
Winemaking and ageing
The Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2023 is vinified traditionally in oak barrels, with full malolactic fermentation. It is then aged for 8 to 10 months in medium-toast French oak barrels from the Tonnellerie Louis Latour, 50% of which are new. This approach preserves the expression of the terroir while bringing structure and complexity to the wine.
Grape variety
This wine is made from Chardonnay, the emblematic grape variety of the great white wines of Burgundy.
