Description

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for L’Ermite 2022 blanc de M. Chapoutier

Tasting

Nose
Of great complexity, the nose reveals aromas of lemon zest and roasted pine nuts, enhanced by delicate smoky notes.

Palate
The palate, of remarkable purity and exemplary precision, enchants with the finesse of its texture and its beautiful salinity. While this great Ermitage white wine may seem discreet in its youth, it gradually reveals, over years of aging, an exceptional aromatic potential.

An expressive and beautifully complex Ermitage white wine

The estate

Established in Tain-L’Hermitage since 1808, the House of M. Chapoutier is now recognized among the most prestigious names in the Rhône Valley.

Michel Chapoutier, winemaker and négociant, has elevated this family house to the pinnacle of excellence over the vintages. Wines bearing the Chapoutier signature are praised for their elegance and quality by connoisseurs around the world. A true jack-of-all-trades, Michel Chapoutier holds the highest number of perfect scores (100/100) awarded by critic Robert Parker. His daughter Mathilde now perpetuates the family tradition, overseeing a vineyard of more than 350 hectares across the most renowned appellations in the northern and southern parts of the valley.

The vineyard

L’Ermite blanc comes from vines located at the top of the Hermitage hill, around the chapel of the lieu-dit L’Ermite. This exceptional terroir is distinguished by its poor granitic soils, which impart great singularity to this vin d'Ermitage.

Grape variety

Marsanne (100 %).
