An exceptional Barolo from Piedmont with remarkable longevity

The property

Founded in the 19th century by the Falletti family, Marchesi di Barolo is a pillar of Piedmontese wine, located in the Barolo region. The estate extends over 120 hectares, with marly limestone soils ideal for nebbiolo. Today led by Anna and Ernesto Abbona, with their children Valentina and Davide, the estate is unanimously recognized for its high-quality wines.

The vineyard

This Barolo Riserva comes from vineyards located in the eponymous municipality, on soils particularly rich in clay and limestone. This specific composition gives the wine its remarkable structure and exceptional aging potential, essential characteristics of great Barolo wines.

The vintage

The 1970 vintage is considered exceptional, characterized by a mild and dry climate, followed by a favorable autumn. These weather conditions allowed optimal maturation of the grapes, giving birth to wines of great charm, remarkable quality and impressive longevity.

Vinification and aging

For the Barolo Riserva 1970, the grapes were destemmed and gently pressed. Spontaneous fermentation was followed by a post-fermentation maceration of 50 days. In the spring, the wine undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Aging took place in large traditional barrels before bottling in the summer of 1977. The original cork was replaced in the summer of 1995.

Blend

100% nebbiolo, the emblematic grape variety of Piedmont, recognized for its ability to produce long-aging wines with complex aromas and powerful tannins.
