The creaminess and richness of an emblematic Barolo Riserva from Piedmont

The property
Founded in the early 19th century by the Falletti family, Marchesi di Barolo is an emblematic estate of Piedmont, located in Barolo. Today led by the Abbona family, the estate extends over 120 hectares, including prestigious plots like Cannubi. Pioneer, using ancestral methods and sustainable practices and supplier to the Italian royal court, Marchesi di Barolo embodies Piedmontese viticultural excellence.

The vineyard
This Barolo comes exclusively from vineyards located in the municipality of Barolo, at the heart of the appellation. The soils, particularly rich in clay and limestone, give the wine its characteristic structure and exceptional aging capacity. This unique geological combination contributes to the authentic expression of the Barolo terroir in each bottle.

The vintage
The 1993 vintage was marked by a mild and early spring, followed by a hot summer and a cool autumn. These climatic conditions allowed for optimal ripening of the grapes, although production was slightly below the usual potential. Experts consider 1993 to be an excellent vintage for Barolo wines.

Vinification and aging
For this Barolo Riserva 1993, the grapes were destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation took place spontaneously at a controlled temperature between 30 and 32°C. The first racking was carried out after 12 days, followed by a malolactic fermentation during the winter. The wine was then aged in large traditional barrels before being bottled in 1998. In 2012, the corks were replaced under the supervision of Valoritalia srl.
