Description
The estate
Since its creation in 1974, Querciabella has been producing fine Tuscan wines all while paying the utmost respect for the terroir and tradition. Forward-thinking and dedicated, the estate, located in the heart of Chianti, to the south of Florence, is renowned as one of the pioneers of Italian organic and biodynamic farming practices.
The wine
Produced since 1974, Querciabella's Chianti Classico stems from a selection of vineyards located between 350 and 550 metres above sea level.
These vineyards are unique due to both their sun exposure and their tapestry of soils (sandstone, sand, galestro, clay, slate, calcium carbonate and limestone), which give this Chianti Classico wine a unique signature style. The vineyard has been farmed organically since 1988 and biodynamically since 2000.
The label was designed by the Italian painter Bernardino Luino.
Vinification and ageing
Harvested by hand. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels with regular stirring of the lees.
