Description
The estate
Since its creation in 1974, Querciabella has been producing fine Tuscan wines, all while paying the utmost attention to the terroir and traditions. This avant-garde and dedicated estate, located in the heart of the Chianti region to the south of Florence, is known as one of the pioneers in Italian organic and biodynamic farming.
The wine
Produced since 2011, Querciabella's Chianti Classico Riserva is made from a selection of vineyards located between 300 and 500 metres above sea level, in the Greve, Radda and Gaiole vineyards.
These terroirs are unique both because of their various sun exposures and because of their patchwork of soils (sandstone, sand, galestro, clay, slate, calcium carbonate and limestone) which give this Chianti red wine a unique signature style.
The vineyard has been managed in an organic manner since 1988 and has been using biodynamic farming methods since 2000.
The label was designed by the Italian painter, Bernardino Luino.
The vintage
The 2018 vintage benefited from optimal weather conditions throughout the vegetative cycle. This very mild climate favoured the even ripening of the grapes, resulting in very high quality wines.
The vinification and ageing
Hand-picked before vinification by plot. Aged for 16 months in 225 and 500-litre French oak barrels (20% new oak).
The blend
This Querciabella Riserva 2018 is a 100% Sangiovese.
Storage
Enjoy today, this Tuscan red wine can be cellared until at least 2033, allowing it to reveal its full aromatic richness.
Service
For an optimal tasting experience, serve between 14 and 18°C.
