Saint-Romain Wines : Key Points

Saint-Romain is a village appellation in the Côte de Beaune, in the Côte-d'Or.

Established in 1947, this Burgundy appellation extends over a terroir of nearly 108 hectares spread across the eponymous production commune.

The terroir has 69.51 hectares dedicated to white wines and 38.04 hectares dedicated to red wines.

One of the first wine-growing areas in Burgundy and benefitting from an elevated geographical position, Saint-Romain has vines planted at an altitude of 280 to 400 metres, on marl and limestone soils and a clay base.

Made from Pinot Noir, the red wines of Saint-Romain combine fragrances of small red fruits, ripe fruits and spices with subtle organic notes. On the palate, the tannins combine finesse and elegance. These wines can be laid down for over ten years.

The white wines of Saint-Romain, made from Chardonnay, reveal intense floral aromas. With a lovely minerality, the palate reveals a smooth and delicious taste over the years.
