Truly a secret garden in the Bordeaux region, the Canon-Fronsac appellation is a lesser known appellation extending over 280 hectares of vines, at the confluence of the Isle and Dordogne Rivers. Part of an exceptional terroir close to the Saint-Émilion appellation, the soil of Canon-Fronsac is typical of the "molasse du Fronsadais", calcareous and clay-limestone soils on the plateaus and hillsides, while the lower areas are of chalky clay.
Although Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are also planted, it is in Canon-Fronsac that Merlot acquires an inimitable style. The flagship red grape variety of the Right Bank accounts for 80% of the vines planted because of the nature of the soil, which favours the perfect maturity of this early grape variety.
Generous, intense aromas of red fruit are punctuated with spicy notes, evolving upon truffle notes over time. The wines of Canon-Fronsac reveal on the palate a subtle alliance of richness and elegance. Merlot expresses itself generously, with a round, dense texture, which does not lose finesse thanks to the elegant tannins. Their power and structure guarantee a beautiful evolution throughout many years of guard.
