Description
The freshness and finesse of an Extra Brut champagne
The estate
Founded more than 120 years ago, the Lancelot Pienne Champagne House has been making wines generation by generation, expressing the richness of the Champagne terroir with authenticity and refinement. With a wealth of experience in different houses, Jean-Baptiste Lancelot, a passionate winegrower, decided at the end of the Second World War to make his own wines. A few years later, one of his sons married Brigitte Pienne and the house of Lancelot Pienne was created. In a constant quest for authenticity and excellence, Lancelot Pienne is a family-run, independent house renowned for the precision and richness of its champagnes, which are considered "vins d'auteur".
The vineyard
Historically established in the heart of the Champagne region, near Cramant, Lancelot Pienne looks after a vineyard of 8.30 hectares spread over the terroirs of the Côte des Blancs and the Vallée de la Marne.
The wine
Lancelot Pienne's 2015 Marie Lancelot Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is made from vineyards in Cramant, a Côte des Blancs Grand Cru, spread over eight plots. The vines are on average 50 years old and are planted on chalky soils. Made from the 2015 vintage, this Extra Brut champagne is dosed at 2.8 g/l.
Winemaking and ageing
Vinification by plot in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. This champagne was aged for 60 months in the chalky cellars of the family home.
Blend
Chardonnay (100%).
