Exceptional vintage in Champagne, the Cuvée Louis Roederer Vintage 2012 embodies, in the words of Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, the Cellar Master of the House, "the perfect emanation of the Louis Roederer terroir". Finesse, purity, precision and harmony, this is the key to Louis Roederer's Vintage Cuvée, Vintage 2012.
While 2012 has been a memorable year because of the difficulties encountered, rare levels of maturity have been reached. The result is great wines, showing an intense aromatic richness, with a beautiful vinosity.
Born from a signature blend of approximately 70% of the finest wines of the world Pinot Noir and 30% of Chardonnay. The 2012 Vintage Cuvée symbolizes the entire style of the House of Louis Roederer. This Cuvée sublimates the personality of the great Pinot Noir terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, where the hillsides of vines located in Verzy and Verzenay exposed to the North-East require time to reach perfect maturity.
It is with time and undergrowth maturing (30% of the wines in the blend were vinified in oak tuns) that the character and strength of Louis Roederer's Cuvée Vintage 2012 asserts itself.
Louis Roederer's Cuvée Vintage 2012 is dressed in a golden-yellow colour with amber reflections highlighting the luminous effervescence of the string of bubbles. Initially discreet, the bouquet reveals itself to be very subtle, opening up to the freshness of citrus notes. The mineral and smoky notes typical of the great terroirs of the Montagne de Reims then follow one another before giving way to the finesse of toasted almond scents highlighting the great precision of the ageing process.
With brilliant energy, the attack in the mouth comes to caress the palate with this soft sensation of "taffeta". In perfect balance, the acidity in the middle palate gives the wine that radiance and freshness that lingers with power as it stretches into the length of an airy finish.
